How this calculator works
Electricity consumption is measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh). To calculate how much an appliance costs to run, we convert its wattage to kilowatts (dividing by 1,000), multiply by the number of hours it runs per day, then multiply by 30.4 to get a monthly figure. We then multiply by your electricity rate in pence and divide by 100 to convert to pounds.
Monthly cost = (Watts ÷ 1,000) × Hours per day × 30.4 × Rate (p/kWh) ÷ 100
Appliance wattages shown are typical values. Your specific appliance may differ. Check the label on the appliance or its manual for the exact wattage. Running costs are estimates and do not account for variations in usage patterns or energy tariff standing charges.
