Utility Matchmaker is a trading name of IOM Digital Design Limited, company number 031776B, registered in the Isle of Man. Registered address: 2 Derby Road, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM2 3ET.
1. What this site is
Utility Matchmaker is an information and referral service. It publishes guides, tools, and data to help UK households understand and compare domestic energy tariffs. It is not an energy supplier, energy broker, or regulated financial adviser.
Live tariff comparison and energy switching is provided through a partner platform operated by TheEnergyShop Limited. TheEnergyShop holds Ofgem Confidence Code accreditation. The comparison is carried out on TheEnergyShop's platform, not on this site. Any contract you enter as a result of a switch is between you and your chosen energy supplier. Utility Matchmaker is not a party to that contract.
2. Using this site
You may use this site for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:
- Use automated tools, scrapers, bots, or scripts to extract content from this site without written permission.
- Reproduce, republish, or redistribute content from this site for commercial purposes without written permission.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its underlying systems.
- Use the site in a way that could damage, disable, or impair it, or interfere with other users.
- Submit false, misleading, or harmful information through any form or tool on the site.
Intellectual property: all content on this site, including text, tools, graphics, and data presentations, is the property of Utility Matchmaker or its licensors. Ofgem price cap data is used under the Open Government Licence v3.0 and is attributed accordingly. Nothing on this site grants you a licence to reproduce or commercially use any content without permission.
3. Accuracy of information
Utility Matchmaker takes reasonable steps to ensure information on this site is accurate and current. Energy tariff rates, price cap levels, and scheme eligibility rules change frequently. The following apply to all content on this site.
Tariff data
Illustrative tariff figures shown on this site are based on publicly available information and are not live quotes. Your actual tariff will depend on your postcode, meter type, usage, and the tariffs available at your address at the time of comparison. Always confirm plan terms with the supplier before completing a switch.
Price cap data
Ofgem price cap rates are sourced from Ofgem's quarterly announcements and updated when new cap levels are confirmed. Rates shown are national averages unless stated otherwise. Your actual rates depend on your distribution network region.
Guide content
Guides on this site are for educational purposes only. They do not constitute energy, financial, legal, or regulated advice. Where government scheme rules are described, confirm current eligibility directly with the relevant government department or your energy supplier before acting.
Tool outputs
Calculators and estimators on this site produce illustrative figures based on the inputs you provide. Results are estimates only. They are not a substitute for a live comparison at your postcode.
4. Partner comparison service
The comparison and switching service accessible from this site is operated by TheEnergyShop Limited. When you click a comparison link, you leave this site and enter TheEnergyShop's platform. TheEnergyShop's own terms of use and privacy policy apply from that point.
Utility Matchmaker may earn a commission if you complete an energy switch through the partner platform. This is disclosed in our affiliate disclosure at utilitymatchmaker.co.uk/affiliate-disclosure. Commission does not affect the tariffs shown in the comparison or the prices available to you.
Utility Matchmaker has no control over the tariffs, suppliers, or switching process on TheEnergyShop's platform. Any issues arising from a switch should be raised with TheEnergyShop or your new supplier directly.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Utility Matchmaker and IOM Digital Design Limited exclude all liability for:
- Loss or damage arising from reliance on information, tools, or comparison results on this site.
- Loss or damage arising from a switch completed through the partner platform.
- Loss or damage arising from the actions or omissions of any energy supplier.
- Interruptions to site availability, errors in content, or technical failures.
- Indirect, consequential, or economic losses of any kind.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
