Common questions
How do I find my annual kWh usage?
Your annual kWh figures appear on your annual energy statement, which suppliers must send each year. They also appear on your bill under your usage or consumption. If you have a smart meter your supplier's app may also show this figure.
What is typical household energy usage in the UK?
Ofgem's typical domestic consumption values are 2,700 kWh per year for electricity and 11,500 kWh per year for gas, for a household paying by direct debit. Actual usage varies significantly by property size, number of occupants, heating type, and lifestyle.
How accurate is this estimate?
The estimate uses the unit rates and usage figures you enter. If your usage figures come from your actual bill the estimate will be reasonably accurate. Using Ofgem's typical figures gives a rough benchmark for comparison purposes only.
